Publications
If you’d like to read the poems/stories/etc. that I’ve published in literary magazines and anthologies, this is the place for you!
At the end of this page there will be some links to websites I use to find good places to submit your own work (not individual journals, but places that have databases for magazines).

Places to Submit
I mostly use database-style websites to find places to submit. Sometimes, if I have a favorite poet or writer and they mention in an acknowledgements section that they were published somewhere, I make a note of that publication to research later. Here are the places I go to most often to look for places to submit:
You can make a free account and browse new and foundational literary and art publications from all over the world. They have a feature (though I believe it’s for paid subscribers) where you can submit to them some samples of your writing or visual art and they will send you a curated list of journals to submit to. You can save publications for later Pinterest-style to folders that you can customize; since I submit poetry, fiction, and CNF, I have folders for each of those places for when I’m ready to submit something. You can follow their Substack, Sub Club, where they break down the top/their favorite literary agents and publications every week. I honestly go to their Substack the most often rather than the website, since the amount of options can be a bit overwhelming. The website (and the Substack) are incredibly user-friendly, and the graphics are relaxing and calming, which I appreciate since submitting can sometimes make me anxious.
This one’s a classic in submissions. As the title says, they are only listing open calls for written submissions, but sometimes if you get to the actual submission portal or website for a particular publication, you notice that there are open calls for art and other forms of media as well. I use this one when I want to take a risk and punch up my submissions. They also have pages listing calls for submissions for grants, literary awards, small presses, and other fun places! Truly a great website, and very easy to use. You don’t need to subscribe to their issues or their website/emails to use the submission feature.
This is a pretty obvious one, as they are the most commonly used submission portal by literary magazines and publications. Submittable has a browsing feature, as well as submission tracker/manager and other easy-to-use features. I don’t use it that often to browse, since I like to peruse a publication’s website first to get a feel for what they’re looking for and just to observe as a lover of words and stories. You don’t have to pay a subscription to look.
